So whether you're looking for a relaxing holiday or an adventure in nature, Corsica has something for everyone.

Calvi

In Corsica's northwest, the medieval town of Calvi and its marina sit below a citadel that appears to be standing on the water. The fort overlooks the marina from the bay's western end and is home to the Baroque St-Jean-Baptiste Cathedral and many winding cobbled streets. Known for its pristine white sand beaches and beautiful crescent-shaped bay, most Corsican charter itineraries commence here as there's an excellent first cruise through the Golfe of Girolata – a nature reserve – to the pretty fishing village of Girolata.

St-Florent

St-Florent is a commune located in the Haute-Corse department in the northern region of Corsica. It is located on the island's east coast and is the capital of the desert of Agriates. The town is home to several attractions and activities, including the port of St-Florent, the Citadel, the Eglise de Saint-Florent, the nearby beaches and nature reserves, and nearby hiking trails. The town is also home to several restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops.

Gulf of Sagone

Between Girolata and Ajaccio is the Gulf of Sagone, a favoured spot for scuba divers with a submerged plane to explore and a 60m wall dive.

Ajaccio

Ajaccio is a smart and sunny city, dynamic and devoted to sport and fun. Ajaccio's immediate surroundings are a natural paradise, an ideal place for hiking, canyoning, mountain biking, trekking and climbing. Ajaccio was the birthplace of French Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte. At Place Foch, which opens out to the seafront from the old town's cluster of winding streets by the port and the marina, there's a white marble statue of Napoléon atop a fountain of four lions. The baroque 16th-century Notre Dame Cathedral, where Napoléon was baptised, contains paintings by Delacroix and Tintoretto.

Propriano

Propriano is a commune in the Corse-du-Sud department on the French island of Corsica. It is located in a picturesque bay of the Tyrrhenian Sea on the southwestern coast of the island. The town is known for its beautiful beaches, crystal-clear waters and stunning views of the nearby Gulf of Valinco. The commune is also home to many interesting historical sites, such as the 13th-century fortifications of Propriano and the old town of Propriano, with its cobblestone streets and colourful buildings. The local economy is mainly based on fishing and tourism.

Bonifacio

At the southern tip of Corsica is Bonifacio, a well-preserved fortified town that dates back to the 9th century. Cantilevered out on eroded limestone, the original houses in the old city sit on white and caramel rock shelves precariously overlooking the café-lined harbour below. A popular tourist attraction in town is the Saint-Dominique church dating back to the 12th-13th centuries. This Gothic church has an impressive 15th-century tower and contains interesting figures carved in wood, carried through the town during religious processions.

Gulf of Valinco

This part of Corsica is an ideal spot for swimming, snorkelling, diving, and other water sports. The beaches are sandy and offer plenty of sunbathing options. The nearby town of Propriano is a great place to explore, with its charming streets and buildings. There are also some excellent restaurants and cafes in the area and plenty of shops, bars, and clubs. For those looking for a more active holiday, there are plenty of walking and cycling trails in the area and opportunities for kayaking, windsurfing, and sailing.
